PERRIN AIR FORCE BASE MUSEUM MAINTENANCE AND OPERATING FUND
Former Perrin Field Personnel:
We invite all former Perrin Field/Perrin Air Force Base personnel both civil service and military who served during Perrin's 30 years of Active Duty to help with your personal monetary and physical help (volunteers are always needed) to maintain the Perrin Air Force Base Museum, The museum is located at 4575 Airport Drive, North Texas Regional Airport-Perrin Field, Denison, Texas 75020-8710. The new museum was dedicated on February 14, 2004, Valentine's Day by all-volunteers as labor of love.
The Perrin Air Force Base Museum evolved out of the many past Perrin Air Force Base reunions beginning soon after Perrin closed in 1971. Reunion attendees brought memorabilia to each reunion and left it to be placed in the museum. Perrin Field Historical Society was chartered back in 1998 and the museum soon became a reality towards perpetuating Perrin Field's historical legacy which began with World War II.
Following the pouring of the concrete foundation and erection of the steel shell building was completed, many long hours of pure blood sweat and tears in the building from the ground ground up commenced. With an average of a dozen old geezers slaving daily in the summer's 106 degrees, several celebrated their 80th birthday during the construction. All interior framing with steel studs, dry wall, insulation, ceilings, partitions, lighting, plumbing, utilities including heating and air-conditioning were done by all-volunteers. Nine months after completion, the building was filled wall to wall with Perrin memorabilia. It was necessary to re-group and commence the effort to double the size of the original building. Within six months, the new addition was complete. The first addition was an USAF Jet Trainer, a T-37 "Twitty-Bird" built in 1969 by Cessna Aircraft Company.
The directors and volunteers at Perrin Air Force Base museum are delighted to report that al the cost of construction of the museum is "paid in full." This blessings were made possible by generous contributors and dedicated volunteers.
However, we remind all interested citizens that contributions are still needed to fully fund the perpetual museum operational and maintenance costs. We are sure that all former Perrinites and/or all who learned to fly at Perrin are interested in keeping the Perrin Field/Perrin Air Force Base legacy alive in perpetuity.
Considering the average age of the current volunteers, it is important to assure that after we old sages are gone and Perrin volunteers no longer available, funding will provide the funding for the hiring of museum personnel.

Goals of the Society:
The Perrin Field Historical Society goals are to preserve the legacy of Perrin Air Force Base well into the Millennium so that our children’s children will be able to see and remember the important part Perrin Air Force Base played to defend freedom and the security of the United States of America. Too often we tend to forget the price of freedom. The tragic events on September 11, 2001 should remind us of the value of our national security.
Please send your donation today.... so the museum will be underway!
